Topics
7.RP
Ratios and Proportional Relationships
Learning objectives:
- Analyze proportional relationships and use them to solve real-world and mathematical problems
Students will understand and use ratios to describe proportional relationships, and use them to solve real-world problems.
7.NS
The Number System
Learning objectives:
- Apply and extend previous understandings of operations with fractions to add, subtract, multiply, and divide rational numbers
Students will apply and extend their understanding of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division to all rational numbers, maintaining the properties of operations and the relationships between addition and subtraction, and multiplication and division.
7.EE
Expressions and Equations
Learning objectives:
- Use properties of operations to generate equivalent expressions and solve real-life and mathematical problems using numerical and algebraic expressions and equations
Students will understand the use of variables in mathematical expressions. They will write expressions and equations that correspond to given situations, and evaluate expressions, and use expressions and formulas to solve problems.
7.G
Geometry
Learning objectives:
- Draw, construct and describe geometrical figures and describe the relationships between them and solve real-life and mathematical problems involving angle measure, area, surface area, and volume
Students will understand relationships among the angles, side lengths, perimeters, areas, and volumes of similar and congruent figures. They will also know and understand the Pythagorean Theorem and its many uses.
7.SP
Statistics and Probability
Learning objectives:
- Use random sampling to draw inferences about a population and draw informal comparative inferences about two populations
Students will understand and use measures of central tendency (mean, median) and spread (range, interquartile range, mean absolute deviation), as well as use these notions to summarize data sets and compare two data sets.
